Electric Mobility Innovations Took Over Mikkeli Harbor – Event on May 18, 2024

Mikkeli Harbor came to life on Saturday, May 18, as a wide range of electric light mobility innovations were showcased during an event organized by the Electric Mobility Cluster. Mikkeli has established itself as a pioneer in electric transportation, and this themed day offered the public an opportunity to explore the latest developments on land, water, and air. The event attracted a large audience, who also had the chance to test the electric vehicles on display.

Valkama Oy – Electric Boats Shone on the Water

Mikkeli-based Valkama Oy showcased its electric boats, which have gained international attention and demand. Valkama’s boats have been on the market since late 2023 and benefit from an extensive domestic supplier network. The boats are an excellent example of how the electrification trend has extended to the water.

Aurora Powertrains Oy – Electric Snowmobiles and Modular Battery Technology

Aurora Powertrains Oy, part of the Electric Mobility Cluster, presented its electric snowmobiles and innovative modular battery technology. The company’s solutions enable batteries to be customized for various purposes, speeding up clients’ product development processes. Aurora Powertrains’ electric snowmobiles attracted significant interest, offering versatile applications for both everyday and specialized needs.

Viva Jets Oy – Electric Jet Ski Made an Impact

Viva Jets Oy introduced an entirely new product category with its electric jet ski, designed using years of expertise. The jet skis are assembled and tested in Mikkeli and have been showcased to international markets. The company’s face, former Formula 1 driver Mika Salo, has been heavily involved in supporting the product’s development and served as the event’s ambassador.

eLyly Oy – Electric Snow Scooter a Point of Interest

eLyly Oy, founded by the Kauppinen couple from Central Finland, brought their electric snow scooter to the event. These lightweight and agile electric vehicles are perfectly suited to Finland’s winter conditions and can carry significant loads or tow sleds. The company’s products generated considerable interest, particularly among winter sports enthusiasts and cottage owners.

Entertainment and Test Rides for Everyone

In addition to electric innovations, the event offered plenty of entertainment. Host Joanna Kuvaja led the proceedings, with music provided by local company Saimaan Viihdepalvelut Oy. Furthermore, the event featured Mökkiradio, Finland’s first local radio station aimed at cottage communities. Attendees at the harbor also had the opportunity to test the showcased products and personally experience the latest electric mobility innovations.

The event was free and open to all and was part of the South Savo Electric Mobility Cluster project, funded by the European Regional Development Fund and managed by Mikkeli Development Company Miksei Oy.
